Jac Gatfield BA (Hons)
I am a 27 year old artist from North Norfolk in the United Kingdom.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Games Art and Design in which I achieved a 2.1 Hons grade and I also have a BTEC in Film and Media.
As an artist, I focus mainly on 2D work, favoring the traditional style (pen, pencil, watercolour and copic markers particularly), however, I am able to produce graphic art pieces as well, working with Photoshop and some open source programs. I specialize in character and creature design and also some graphic work.
As well as being a keen artist, I have an extensive knowledge of animals (having studied them in depth over a number of years) which helps in my design work and sense of colours, patterns and form, particularly in the natural world. I also have a Certificate of Continuing Education in Ornithology which I got from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 2007. I have a big interest in prehistory and often look to it for inspiration in my creature designs.
I currently live in Norfolk and my interests include animals (including bird watching), films, games, music and creative writing. I am currently working on a fictional novel that relates to the creature designs displayed in the 'Zyckian Beasts' gallery as well as an art book that will hopefully be on sale on this website in the near future.
My main goal for the future is to work for a film or animation studio, doing concept and design work, particularly focusing on characters and creatures but perhaps with some prop design work too.
